New York Congressmembers: Do Not Sell Out Your Constituents

Just moments ago, the U.S. Senate Republicans pushed through a budget bill that’s somehow even deadlier than the House GOP’s original. In response, Invest in Our New York Campaign Manager Carolyn Martinez-Class released the following statement:

“Today, the Senate majority advanced a budget bill that will make life significantly harder for working-class people by cutting their healthcare & gutting the social safety net, all so a handful of billionaires get bigger tax breaks.

“As this budget bill makes its way back to the House, New York’s Congressional Delegation has a decision to make: Will they protect the communities they represent? Or are untreated illnesses, empty stomachs, job loss, and eviction just the price their constituents must pay so the super-rich can get even richer?

“If Reps. Lawler, Malliotakis, LaLota, Garbarino, Stefanik, Langworthy, and Tenney vote for this legislation, they’ve chosen to side with the billionaires over their constituents. We will organize to hold them accountable.”
