The United States House of Representatives just voted to pass President Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," which will strip up to 17 million people of their healthcare, food assistance, and more. Below is a statement from the Invest in Our New York Campaign in response to this deadly legislation:
“Today’s vote is a stark reminder that New York’s extremist Congressional Republicans are willing to forsake their constituents so that billionaires get more handouts. By voting to enact Donald Trump’s deadly budget bill, billionaires and corporations will get richer while over one million working-class New Yorkers lose healthcare, children go hungry, and rural hospitals face permanent closure.
“New Yorkers deserve representatives who protect working-class families, not politicians who sacrifice their constituents’ well-being for their billionaire donors. We will remember this betrayal and hold them accountable.
“Not all needs to be lost: Governor Hochul and the Legislature can show the nation what state leadership looks like. State leaders can increase taxes on New York’s millionaires –– those who stand to gain the most from this federal budget bill –– and use those new public funds to protect our communities from the most extreme cuts.”
