GOVERNOR HOCHUL MUST CHANGE HER TUNE BEFORE PRESENTING HER FY2026 EXECUTIVE BUDGET

After the Governor's Division of Budget released its updated financial plan this morning, Invest in Our York released the following statement:

“The Governor’s updated financial outlook forebodes another budget negotiation process consumed in chaos, shortsightedness, and austerity,” said Carolyn Martinez-Class, Campaign Director for Invest in Our New York.

“The FY2025 budget failed to meet the moment and the real needs of working-class New Yorkers. Now, the Governor is already planning to use future public dollars to fill a $15 billion MTA budget gap of her own making, signaling her intent to ignore the climate crisis and continue starving teachers, hospitals, and caretakers of necessary funding. This lack of leadership is unacceptable; we call on the Governor to change her tune well before January.”
